hello my name is nicole marie polec and i am a photographer. i call what i do image design. that is taking pictures and then illustrating the image to create style. i do this for models, actors and rockstars. i style the client with fashion and the environment. i make photographs about something and not just of something. i think an image should tell a story. i am influenced by music and art. my ultimate goal is to design images for album covers and i want to win the vogue fashion photographer of the year award by the time i turn thirty. i also want to be named one of the pdn's top thirty under thirty. i have been published since may 2006 in hour detroit magazine, the metro times, readymade magazine. my first editorial portrait for hour detroit magazine was the girl who runs the ann arbor film festival. i created album covers for wes hutchinson, jess king, atomictom, red i flight. i shoot in detroit, new york city, los angeles, boston, and nashville. if you were my client we would come up with a concept and use the envirmonment to surround you. if i had a budget i could do so much more. i have incredible talent and neverending ideas. when i see you i will match you with a location that i keep in my head. i first got interested in photography when i started modeling. i have always painted and drawn but never could get what i saw in my head out onto the canvas, but with my camera i can print my imagination. i like to take self portraits and play dress up. i shoot with a 35mm film camera. i attended the new england school of photography in boston and i learned everything about the photographic process. i spent two years of my life inside of a darkroom. i don't like to be bound to a studio becasue i think the enviroment in a photo adds so much to the moment. after i shoot a roll of film i have it processed to a cd so i can take the images into photoshop. its basically the same as using a digital camera only i have my photographs backed up on film. i believe you can't fully understand digital photography unless you completely understand the way film works. i like to play with alternative processes like taking a roll of positive film and processing it as if it was c-41. this is called cross processing and creates a color shift and adds contrast for an intersting effect. i do all the photography for casinodogg.com. i am a make-up artist and a stylist. photography by nicole marie polec or the nicole show is my business. i am a freelancer and i want to support myself fully with photography. you should let me shoot you. i am going to publish a book one day of all of my work. i am a photoshop expert. people call me crazy all the time but i don't care. i will admit that i agree with them, otherwise i would be in a mental institute. magazines i want to shoot for include teen vogue, interview, paper, spin, rolling stone, nylon, etc. i am location based and i bring my studio with me. i am black and white and read all over. there is a darkness in all of my work. the people i shoot are comfortable in front of the camera when i am behind it.
